Qualifications for Office
Federal 
President of the United States
United States Constitution Article. II. Section. 1.
No Person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President; neither shall any Person be eligible to that Office who shall not have attained to the Age of thirty five Years, and been fourteen Years a Resident within the United States.

Vice President of the United States

 
United States Senator
United States Constitution Article I: Section 3
No person shall be a Senator who shall not have attained to the Age of thirty
Years, and been nine Years a Citizen of the United States, and who shall not, when elected, be an Inhabitant of that State for which he shall be chosen.

United States Representative in Congress
United States Constitution Article I: Section 2
No Person shall be a Representative who shall not have attained to the Age of twenty five Years, and been seven Years a Citizen of the United States, and who shall not, when elected, be an Inhabitant of that State in which he shall be chosen. 


State of Illinois - Qualifications for Office
             Illinois Constitution Article V: Section 3. Eligibility
To be eligible to hold the office of Governor, Lieutenant Governor, Attorney General, Secretary of State, Comptroller or Treasurer, a person must be a United States citizen, at least 25 years old, and a resident of this State for the three years preceding his election.

Constitutional Responsibilities and Powers

Governor of Illinois
Illinois Constitution Article V: Section 8 Supreme Executive Power  
The Governor shall have the supreme executive power, and shall be responsible for the faithful execution of the laws.

Lieutenant Governor of Illinois
Illinois Constituion Article V: Section 14 Lieutenant Governor - Duties
The Lieutenant Governor shall perform the duties and exercise the powers in the Executive Branch that may be delegated to him by the Governor and that may be prescribed by law.

Attorney General
Illinois Constitution Article V: Section 15 Attorney General - Duties  
The Attorney General shall be the legal officer of the State, and shall have the duties and powers that may be prescribed by law.

Secretary of State
Illinois Constitution Article V: Section 16 Secretary of State - Duties
The Secretary of State shall maintain the official records of the acts of the General Assembly and such official records of the Executive Branch as provided by law. Such official records shall be available for inspection by the
public. He shall keep the Great Seal of the State of Illinois and perform other duties that may be prescribed by law.


   
Comptroller
Illinois Constitution Article V: Section 17 Comptroller - Duties 
The Comptroller, in accordance with law, shall maintain the State's central fiscal accounts, and order payments into and out of the funds held by the Treasurer.

 
Treasurer
Illinois Constitution Article V: Section 18 Treasurer - Duties
The Treasurer, in accordance with law, shall be responsible for the safekeeping and investment of monies and securities deposited with him, and for their disbursement upon order of the Comptroller.
